The Serbia national football team represents Serbia in men’s international football competitions.
After the breakup of SFR Yugoslavia and its football team in 1992, Serbia was represented (along with Montenegro) in the national football team of the new FR Yugoslavia. Despite qualifying for Euro 92, the team was banned from the tournament due to international sanctions, a ban that was also enforced for the World Cup 94 and Euro 96 qualifiers. The national team played its first friendly in December 1994, and after restrictions were eased, the golden generation of 1990 eventually took part in World Cup 98, reaching the round of 16 and the quarter-finals at Euro 2000. The national team competed in 2006, 2010, and 2018 FIFA World Cup tournaments but failed to progress beyond the group stage on each occasion. They are scheduled to participate in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Between February 2003 and June 2006, Serbia participated due to the country’s name change to Serbia and Montenegro. After a 2006 referendum, Montenegro declared its independence, which resulted in a separate football federation that led to the final name change of the teams to the independent Serbia national football team. Serbia is considered by FIFA and UEFA to be the official successor to the national football teams of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia/SFR Yugoslavia, and FR Yugoslavia/Serbia and Montenegro.
