Qatar has banned alcoholic beverages around stadiums during the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The said decision has come at a time when the Games are 2 days away. Following this decision, fans will not be able to purchase Budweiser around the designated 8 stadiums.

It should be noted that FIFA‘s biggest sponsor, Budweiser Beer Company, has exclusive rights to sell beer at the World Cup.

FIFA’s decision, which comes just two days before the opening match, means that anyone attending matches will no longer be able to drink alcoholic beverages inside the stadium.
A FIFA statement said that following discussions between the host country (Qatar) and FIFA officials, beer sales points have been removed from certain stadiums during the FIFA World Cup. “There will be no impact on sales of Budweiser, which will continue to be available at all other World Cup stadiums in Qatar,” he said.

Host country authorities and FIFA want to ensure that the stadium and surrounding areas provide a pleasant, respectful and enjoyable environment for all fans”.
